3rd Battalion 34th Artillery (105mm Howitzer, Towed Riverine)

The 3rd of the 34th Artillery was a towed 105mm howitzer battalion assigned to the 9th Infantry Division. The battalion was unique in that is was placed on barge firing platforms to provide direct artillery support for the divisions Mobile Riverine Force Operations. It was administratively stationed at Dong Tam, arriving in Vietnam as direct support artillery for the divisions 3rd brigade before its riverine role was undertaken.
