VISITING THE VIETNAM UNIT MEMORIAL MONUMENT
(CCB – PCF – PBR Display)

USFlag.thin

Prior to September 11, 2001 visitors to the Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado would be allowed on base just to see the small boat display (CCB-PCF-PBR). Since that time, security has been at very high levels. Currently persons without a Department of Defense ID card and “base sticker” must be escorted by someone who has these forms of identifications .

Advanced arrangements must be made when desiring to visit the Vietnam Unit Memorial Monument. Or the “small boat display” this can be done by calling one of the below members of the sponsoring organizations:
Mobile Riverine Force Association
The Swift Boat Sailors Association
The Game Wardens of Vietnam.

Sufficient advanced notification must be made to ensure that coordination with volunteers, who donate their own time, can be made.

If someone has the appropriate identification to get on base, you should know that the Memorial and boat display is located inside the Naval Amphibious Base, just east of the Club Coronado and south of the Naval Surfaces Force headquarters building. The Navy guards (in cammies) at the gate may not in all cases know of the Memorial or the boat display and their location. We are trying to correct this situation. The total distance from the main gate is less then a quarter of a mile. Upon entering the base, take an immediate right. Go one long block and turn left. The club Coronado will be on your right. Just pass the Club Coronado, you will see the Memorial Wall and Boats at the intersection.
